CRCFProjects is an independent directory of European carbon removal and carbon farming projects, combined with a live feed and a timeline of the EU CRCF rules. The aim is simple: help a sustainability lead or a CEO understand the CRCF market in minutes, see where each project stands on EU certification, and find the developers worth talking to. No intermediary, no commission.
Who is behind this
Maximilian Venhofen builds and runs CRCFProjects. He has spent twelve years working in sustainability and climate, and started CRCFProjects to give buyers an honest, independent way into the European CRCF market, so they can act without wading through noise and developers can be found on the merits.
Full transparency: Maximilian also works at Pina Earth, one of the developers listed here. Pina Earth gets no preferential treatment and no boosted position, and is held to exactly the same sourcing and labelling rules as every other listing.
How we research and verify
Every fact comes from a primary or recognised source, never from guesswork. We label status in three tiers, and never beyond what the source supports:
- Developer-stated. The developer's own claim.
- Registry-verified. Found in the registry of a recognised scheme: Puro.earth, Isometric, Verra or Gold Standard.
- CRCF-certified. Certified under a CRCF methodology. Almost nothing is here yet, as the first units are expected from late 2026.
Feed items stay unverified until a human checks them against the primary source, for example EUR-Lex or DG CLIMA. Each entry carries its source and the date it was last checked.
What CRCF eligibility really means
Eligibility depends on where the project sits, not where the developer is based. A project in an EU member state is in CRCF scope. Actual eligibility also needs an adopted CRCF methodology for that activity, and several, including carbon farming methodologies, are still being adopted. So we say a project is in scope, not that it is already eligible. We show this on every profile and on the map.
Independent by design
We are not an intermediary. We take no commission on deals, and listings are researched independently from public sources. Developers can later claim and manage their own profile, but paying for an enhanced profile never buys a better position or a softer assessment. The order of the directory and the verification status stay editorial. Any sponsored placement, if we add it later, will be clearly labelled and separate from the directory.
